MODERNIZATION OF RAILWAY VEHICLE MAINTENANCE WORKSHOPS AT ŽRS A.D. DOBOJ

Abstract

The capacities for maintenance of railway vehicles for freight traffic include the Doboj maintenance workshop, the Banja Luka maintenance workshop and the Prijedor maintenance workshop. These workshops can provide maintenance services for various types of locomotives and wagons such as diesel locomotives, electric locomotives and freight wagons. The workshop at the Zvornik border station (which belongs to the Doboj maintenance workshop) and the workshop at the Omarska station (which belongs to the Prijedor maintenance workshop) are also included in the maintenance for the purpose of emergency and ongoing maintenance. Based on the field inspection of the condition of the existing railway vehicle maintenance workshops, it was concluded that they can meet the maintenance needs of the existing locomotives and vehicles. ŽRS still has a large number of railway vehicles out of exploitation, and the capacities were able to meet the maintenance needs of all railway vehicles (operational and non-operational) many years ago. The buildings, facilities and equipment in these workshops are deteriorating, and the working environment is poor, and they need to be renovated or modernized. In addition, newly purchased rail vehicles should also be equipped with appropriate buildings, facilities and maintenance equipment and devices.
